3DA: Why have you decided to work in 3d-field and when have you started?
AF: My first contact with 3D was in my childhood when I saw the movie Tron, in 1982. All those effects aroused great curiosity to understand how it could be done, however it was only possible start working with computer graphics officially in 1994 when I started studying architecture and had access to more powerful computers with 3D Studio R4 and finally allowed to put my projects into practice.
3DA: Describe to our readers your usual workflow
AF: Even before receiving any project there is a step that I consider the most important the constant search for references through all available means, to always be updated and be able to generate good alternatives quickly. The second step after a contact with the customer is to request all the information needed to interpret more accurately what he wants and to eliminate any type of doubt and only then we can initiate the planning of how the image will be made.
3DA: What was most difficult for you when you just started working in 3D? And what is now?
AF: When I started 20 years ago the greatest difficulty was to get material to study, we did not have internet yet and it took too long to translate books and they were out already with outdated versions of the programs. Today is the contrary: the greatest difficulty is to have enough time. I would like to better appreciate the huge study material that nowadays we have access to.
3DA: Looking back on your education process what you would have changed now? And what you consider right and would do exactly the same?
AF: Previously I had a great desire to learn all about 3D softwares without having an order of priority which did not allow me to focus on the roles that I really would need to use more often. What not changed was the big wish to always learn new things but now in a more organized and focused on that I really need in my work.
3DA: Which was the biggest problem that you faced working on a project and how have you solved it?
AF: The biggest problem has always been the time, because the deadlines are getting shorter the solution is to run a good planning even before turning on your computer in order to minimize rework during the process, which could delay delivery.
3DA: What forecast you can make about the future of 3d-world in general?
AF: I believe that the future evolution of programs and computers will cause virtually no longer we have to spend most of our time with settings and the focus will be try do images with more creativity if we want to stay in the market.
