Looking back, I could be sorry that I wasted several years studying economics and was not doing something that I really had interest for. But it’s useless and so I am not sorry for anything.
I got in touch with the 3d world because I needed a tool to help me visualize my ideas, as I wanted to enter some design contests and I had been a bit frustrating before trying to involve other people into understanding what I wanted to achieve.
First, I receive information from client and read each drawings carefully (if something is not clear, better to ask asap). Then I imagine myself in that space, watch it from different angles and take notes, step by step, what should be done
The difficult thing is to keep up with growing visualization technology. You have to keep learning to be on top.
My "secret" tool is Vray2SidedMtl. It's a cool way to create realistic leaves for vegetation and, in my opinion, it's better and also faster for rendering than using translucence map.
I was tired of doing scale models and I didn’t fit the type of architecture I was doing so I needed something that allowed me to visualize complex shapes in a faster and more creative way and that’s when i started using 3D as design tool.
I started about 14 years ago - I was helping my father and working in a local studio by the time in a few projects, very basic renders and not entirely sure what I was doing… But I was really loving it! :)
Now the most difficult is to create chaos. In real life, for example, you do not find absolutely clean surfaces in architecture - there are water stains on walls, dust, dirt on the borders of asphalt roads and so on.
Have a love for what you are doing, artistic vision and always be at the vanguard of CG and 3D-field
Today we continue our animago Award 2017 series of articles by introducing you the winner in Best Still nomination - 3D visualization artist Marek Denko. We talk about his way in CGI and behind the scenes of creation and development of his latest awarded project, "Her Eventual Hesitation".
Just a few words for those who’d like to take their career into CG or Architectural Visualization, never stop learning just keep on honing your skills, do a lot of research and learn from fellow artists too be open-minded when you want your work to be criticized only through that you will improved.
I started in the 3D field about 5 years ago. After working with several good companies I had a chance to create my own called Blackhaus that is a group of artists for the creation of high end digital sets.
