The light is in my opinion one of the most important things in the field of 3D. You have to think like a photographer to catch the right moment for that kind of visuals. You could be the greatest modeler on earth, but if you are not able to set the model in a nice light it would not work!
I started 3D aproximately two years ago when I first started my architecture degree; a friend of mine showed to me Sketchup software wich had a huge impact over me and since then I've been getting more and more into 3D.
The worst problem was not using as reference 3D pictures... I decided that just using photo reference and my imagination is enough...
3D is just a tool, so the most important is to provide the solution for the needs of our customers.
For achieving photorealistic results general taste in design is far more important than just a technical knowledge of the software.
I remember back in year 2007, I learn normal ies light until 1.30AM just for knowing the light intensity. Nobody helped me, just me and internet! Today many people share something, but some years ago people don't wanna share so much.
Even after 15 years I still love my work every day. The last few years I made hundreds of artist impressions for standard Dutch house projects. But now I love to make interiors and more exclusive houses.
Every project gives a different satisfaction, it's a challenge to me to learn and at the same time to give the best result I can along the way.
For an architect it's necessary to enter the 3D-field to clarify your ideas and finalize your designs to the client.
Hello, my name is Jacinto Monteiro, I graduated as an architect, back in 2001, in Portugal, and started working in this profession for 6 years. In the peak of 2007/8 crisis, with my girlfriend pregnant of my only child, I decided to quit my architectural job and had a fresh start as a digital artist. High risk and drastic decision that changed my life completely, luckily for better.
When I gonna create something new I keep away from common things, or other 3D artworks 'cause it can make me copy others' ideas and I really hate this things. So I kind like to travel, go to bars with my friends, talk about other stuffs, cause I know it will gives me good ideas, take photos helps too.
